Dubai Police seize quad bikes, issue AED50,000 fine warning for street riding by children

The Dubai Police have seized several quad bikes after residents reported disturbances caused by noisy motorcycle riders in their neighborhoods. Investigations revealed that the disruptions were caused by children riding these recreational vehicles on the streets.

Maj-General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at the Dubai Police, stated that these children were causing disturbances and generating noise in residential areas. The police tracked these riders to their homes and confiscated their quad bikes.

Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei emphasized that quad bikes are not meant for paved roads and their use in such environments constitutes a serious violation. Under Decree No. 30 of 2023, a penalty of Dh50,000 is imposed for using off-road bikes on paved roads. He highlighted that these recreational bikes are designed for off-road driving in sandy areas and their use on public roads poses risks to both riders and other road users.

The police also issued a warning to parents against allowing their children to use these bikes on roads, stressing that any accidents resulting from such behavior would place the responsibility on the parents for failing to supervise their children.

Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei urged parents to prioritize the safety of their children and refrain from buying such motorbikes for them. He noted that most riders of these bikes, regardless of age, tend to ignore proper driving behavior.

To enhance road safety in the emirate, the Dubai Police encourages the community to report any such violations through the ‘Police Eye’ service on the Dubai Police App or by calling the ‘We Are All Police’ hotline at 901.
