Rider who shoved motorcyclist on video faces LTO action, 90-day license suspension

A motorcycle rider caught on viral video pushing another motorist off balance on a public road is now facing multiple charges before the Land Transportation Office, which has ordered him to appear at a formal hearing later this month.

The footage, which spread widely across social media, shows the rider deliberately shoving a fellow motorcyclist while both were in motion, causing the victim to lose control and fall onto the road.

The LTO issued a Show Cause Order against the rider, requiring him to explain why he should not be held liable for violations covering reckless driving, failure to observe the duty of a driver in case of an accident, improper use of number plates, and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. He is directed to appear before the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Division at the LTO Central Office on May 18, 2026, at 11 a.m.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the rider’s license has been preventively suspended for 90 days and must be surrendered immediately to the IID. The motorcycle involved in the incident has also been placed on alarm status.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao said no form of aggression or reckless behavior on the road would be tolerated regardless of who is involved. “Walang puwang sa lansangan ang anumang uri ng karahasan, panggigipit, o iresponsableng pagmamaneho kahit sino pa ang sangkot. Hindi exempted ang sinuman sa batas. Ang mandato natin ay protektahan ang publiko at tiyaking ligtas ang ating mga kalsada para sa lahat,” he said.

The agency said the case is part of a broader, intensified campaign against reckless driving and road violations that endanger public safety.
