More than 90 overseas Filipino workers who have returned to Western Visayas received a combined ₱2.4 million in livelihood aid through a reintegration program led by migration and welfare agencies in the region. Among those assisted were 11 workers recently brought home from the Middle East.
The initiative is designed to help former migrant workers transition into stable sources of income by supporting small business ventures. Beneficiaries were provided with startup funds, essential equipment, and guidance to help establish or expand their enterprises.
To strengthen their capacity to manage businesses, participants also underwent financial literacy sessions and introductory entrepreneurial training facilitated by a regional trade agency. The program aims to equip them with practical skills needed to sustain operations beyond initial funding.
In a separate move, labor authorities are preparing to release an additional ₱500,000 in support of an OFW-led enterprise in Iloilo. The funding will be used to scale up operations of Iloilo Living Farm Dairies, whose products are currently featured in a government-backed platform promoting goods made by returning migrant workers.
