A task group has been formed to identify the gunmen and establish a motive after two men were killed in a midafternoon shooting along EDSA-Timog Avenue in Quezon City.
Authorities recovered spent shells believed to be from a .45-caliber firearm at the scene, where the attack unfolded around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Witnesses told Super Radyo dzBB reporter Glen Juego that the suspects intercepted a white car at the intersection before opening fire on its occupants.
Both victims were rushed to East Avenue Medical Center. The driver was pronounced dead around 5:00 p.m., according to a separate DZBB report, while his companion was still undergoing surgery at the time.
The second victim later died in hospital, as reported by Saksi.
The suspects fled toward Cubao on a motorcycle after the attack. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
