Malacañang to rogue cargo operators: You will answer for cheating OFWs

Malacañang has issued a direct warning to cargo operators engaged in fraud against overseas Filipino workers, saying those caught abusing OFWs will be held accountable.

A large-scale estafa case has already been filed with the National Bureau of Investigation against at least one cargo company over complaints of deception — a development Palace Press Officer Claire Castro cited as evidence that the government is moving beyond statements into legal action.

Castro said the Bureau of Customs is stepping up both its assistance to affected OFWs and its pursuit of cases against those responsible for missing or undelivered balikbayan boxes and other remittances.

Victims have been urged to report complaints to authorities immediately to ensure faster resolution of their cases.
