Matty Juniosa earns second Golden Buzzer on ‘Britain’s Got Talent,’ advances to finals

Matty Juniosa is heading to the finals of Britain’s Got Talent season 19 after Amanda Holden pressed the Golden Buzzer for his performance of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” during the show’s April 25 broadcast.

The Filipino singer drew a standing ovation from the audience and judges alike, with judge Alesha Dixon offering an extended appraisal of what she saw onstage.

“I don’t even know what to say. You are just effortlessly sensational. Singing just pulls out of you so easily; those high notes are just so sweet. And it’s so lovely to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show, that’s so stellar, a masterclass performance of how to deliver a Class A vocal,” Dixon said.

The crowd pushed for Holden to be the one to give Juniosa the honor, and she obliged — sending him into an overwhelmed reaction as the golden confetti fell.

Simon Cowell, who had already given Juniosa his first Golden Buzzer during auditions for his cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” echoed Dixon’s assessment while also speaking to the singer’s character.

“Alesha summed it up when she said it was a masterclass. That is what it’s all about. Great song, your range is incredible. And you are the sweetest person, I’m so happy for you. Two Golden Buzzers, that’s not bad, right?” Cowell said.

With two Golden Buzzers now to his name, Juniosa advances directly to the finals, where competitor rankings will be determined by combined scores from both judges and the audience.

Before his run on the British competition, Juniosa had competed in the first season of Idol Philippines, reaching the Top 12. He was later grouped into a trio called iDolls alongside Enzo Almario and Lucas Garcia in 2019 — a group that dissolved three years after its formation.
