G Productions, the production company behind Sarah Geronimo, moved to shut down political speculation after a throwaway joke the singer made at a public event last week spread rapidly online.
The clarification came after footage from Sarah’s appearance at an Earth Day run — held in connection with a brand she endorses — circulated widely. At the close of her onstage segment, the singer delivered a heartfelt send-off to the crowd before capping it with an unexpected punchline.
“Stay safe everyone and remember, life is short. Make each moment count with our loved ones kasi hindi natin alam kung nandito pa tayo bukas,” Sarah said. “Maraming salamat po, iboto niyo po ako sa susunod na eleksyon!”
The line about votes triggered a wave of online commentary, with some interpreting it as a signal that Sarah — who co-runs G Productions with husband Matteo Guidicelli — was considering a future in politics.
The company was quick to push back. In a statement, G Productions described the remark as “a lighthearted moment meant purely for fun and crowd interaction,” noting that Sarah remained exactly “where she wants to be — on stage, doing what she loves, and inspiring people through her talent and artistry.”
“We have seen a few clips making the rounds suggesting that Sarah is gearing up for the next election, or at least testing the waters,” the company acknowledged before rejecting the premise outright.
G Productions closed its statement with a direct appeal: “We kindly ask everyone to enjoy the moment for what it was and resist adding any political color to an onstage joke.”
