PAL halts Saipan service until mid-June as typhoon damage shuts down runway

Runway repairs at Saipan International Airport have forced Philippine Airlines to ground its Manila-Saipan route through June 18, 2026, after Typhoon Sinlaku caused damage requiring extended rehabilitation work at the facility.

Two flight numbers are affected by the suspension: PR 2571, which operates Manila to Saipan every Wednesday and Sunday, and PR 2572, the return service running every Monday and Thursday.

Passengers holding tickets for cancelled departures have four options available to them. They may rebook onto another flight in the same cabin class, subject to seat availability, or request a full refund on their unused ticket — though the ticketing service charge will not be returned. Those who purchased through a travel agent are directed to their agent rather than the airline for rebooking or refund requests.

A third option allows affected passengers to convert their ticket value into PAL Travel Credits, which carry no expiry date. As an incentive, the airline is offering a five percent bonus on top of the ticket value for those choosing this route. Passengers may also reroute through Guam as an alternative, though any transportation costs between airports will be borne by the traveller.

PAL said it will work with airport authorities to determine when the runway will be cleared for commercial operations to resume.

Passengers can reach PAL around the clock through its Manila landlines at (+632) 8539-0000 or (+632) 8855-8888, via WhatsApp at +63 917 830 5810, or through Messenger at m.me/PhilippineAirlines. Flight status updates are available at philippineairlines.com.
