SSS warns Filipinos against email scams

The Social Security System (SSS) of the Philippines has issued a warning to its members regarding fraudulent emails posing as official communication from SSS. These emails often request personal information such as SS numbers, user IDs, passwords, and disbursement account details. Members are urged to keep such information confidential and to be vigilant against sharing it.

The SSS emphasized the importance of verifying the identity of individuals contacting members through social media, phone, text, or email. Official SSS emails come from the domain @sss.gov.ph, and their social media accounts are marked with a blue verification badge confirming their authenticity.

To ensure secure communication, members are encouraged to use the following official channels:

Hotline Numbers: 02-1455 or 8-1455
uSSSap Tayo Portal: https://crms.sss.gov.ph/
Email: usssaptayo@sss.gov.ph
Members can also visit the official SSS social media pages on Facebook (SSSPh), X (former Twitter) (PHLSSS), YouTube (MySSSPH), and Viber (MySSSPH Updates).

The SSS also warns against engaging with fixers, as this is a violation of R.A. 11199 (Social Security Act of 2018) and R.A. 11032 (Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018). In case of victimization by scammers or fixers in SSS online transactions, members are encouraged to file complaints and cooperate with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group or National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division.

The SSS Special Investigation Department (SID) can assist in these matters. Reports can be made to the SID at their office in Quezon City, via telephone at (02) 89247370, or through email at fid@sss.gov.ph. Additionally, members can seek assistance at the E-Center of any SSS branch, where Member Service Representatives are available to assist with online services.

The SSS urges its members: Be vigilant. Don’t fall prey to fixers and online scammers!
