A 12-year-old boy was found dead, allegedly killed by his grandmother who suffers from mental illness. The tragic event occurred on Friday in a coconut farm located in Barangay Bohe Sapa in Lamitan, Basilan.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was discovered hogtied, bearing multiple hack wounds from head to toe. His body was found by family members and village officials. Lt. Col. Arlan Delumpines, the Lamitan City police chief, confirmed the gruesome details of the discovery.
In a swift response, village chairman Jojo Manuel apprehended the suspect, the boy’s grandmother, and handed her over to the police. During her interrogation, the woman claimed that her grandson had “transformed” into her enemy, which compelled her to commit the act.
