Malacañang reaffirms: No plans to return to ICC under Marcos

The Philippines has no plans to rejoin the International Criminal Court, Malacañang reaffirmed Tuesday, with Palace Press Officer Claire Castro telling reporters in New York that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has not shifted his position on the matter.

“The President’s stance has not changed. We will still not rejoin the ICC,” Castro said.

The country’s separation from the court dates to March 17, 2019, when its withdrawal from the Rome Statute — formally filed with the United Nations a year prior — took effect.
