Filipino among 68 hurt as UAE battles wave after wave of Iranian missiles and drones

Ten additional people were hurt during the latest wave of Iranian projectiles intercepted over the UAE on Monday, bringing the total number of injured since the attacks began to 68, the Ministry of Defence said.

The latest interception saw air defences knock down 9 ballistic missiles, 6 cruise missiles, and 148 drones. The 10 new injuries add to the 58 previously recorded across multiple nationalities — among them Emirati, Filipino, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, and Afghan nationals. Three people have died since the first strikes on February 28 and March 1.

The ministry put the cumulative scale of the Iranian assault in stark terms: 174 ballistic missiles have been detected since hostilities began, with 161 destroyed and 13 falling into the sea. Of 689 drones tracked, 645 were shot down while 44 landed inside the country. All 8 cruise missiles detected were destroyed, though some caused collateral damage.

Authorities attributed the explosions and loud sounds reported in various parts of the country to interceptions by air defence systems and fighter jets — activity that has caused minor to moderate damage to civilian properties.

Abu Dhabi condemned the campaign as a blatant act of aggression and a violation of both national sovereignty and international law, and said it reserves the full right to respond and take all measures necessary to defend its territory and people.

The ministry said it remains on high alert and called on the public to rely solely on official state sources for information, cautioning against the spread of unverified reports.
