Two people sustained injuries after debris from intercepted drones landed in the courtyards of residential properties in Dubai, the Dubai Media Office confirmed. Both individuals received medical treatment following the incident.
The UAE said its defence forces successfully intercepted three separate waves of Iranian missile launches, with the loud sounds reported across parts of Dubai on Sunday attributed to those interception operations. It was the second consecutive day residents heard the blasts.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority stressed that the safety and security of everyone in the country remains its top priority, and that the situation is under control.
Iran has been striking US assets across Gulf nations in retaliation for American and Israeli military action against the Islamic Republic. As those attacks continued, UAE authorities moved quickly to manage the fallout on the ground, including missile debris that came down in a residential area and caused some material damage. Officials also conveyed condolences to the family of a Pakistani national who died in connection with the incident.
The Ministry of Interior had issued an emergency alert on Saturday directing people to shelter inside solid structures, keep away from windows, doors, and open areas, and await further official guidance. NCEMA echoed that call, urging the public to remain calm and follow instructions from relevant authorities.
