An SUV driver in Abu Dhabi caused a significant collision with a pickup truck after making a last-minute lane change on a busy highway. The Abu Dhabi Police released a video clip on Friday, showcasing the severe consequences of sudden lane deviations and irresponsible overtaking.
The footage depicts an orange SUV abruptly changing lanes while exiting a major road. This initial infraction was only the beginning of a series of reckless maneuvers. The driver then aimed for the left lane of a branching road but, in a perilous split-second decision, swerved to the right, crossing restricted lines and colliding with a pickup truck. The force of the impact was so intense that it caused the rear end of the truck to lift and skid sideways.

In response to this incident, the Abu Dhabi Police issued a stern warning against such dangerous driving behaviors. They advised motorists to always ensure the road is clear before overtaking or changing lanes and cautioned against erratic lane switching. They emphasized the importance of using the correct lane when moving to a different road.
Sudden deviation is considered a serious traffic violation in the UAE, carrying a penalty of Dh1,000 and four black points. Wrong overtaking fines range from Dh600 to Dh1,000, depending on the severity of the offense.
