A Utah woman has tragically passed away following a severe dog attack that occurred on October 31.
The 63-year-old victim was assaulted by two adult pit bulls and five puppies, owned by her son, in her own backyard under mysterious circumstances.
The attack resulted in the amputation of her left leg due to critical injuries to her face, hands, and legs.
Despite efforts to recover, the woman died a week later in the hospital.
Taylorsville Police Chief Brady Cottam expressed his condolences, stating, “We feel so badly for this family and we are so saddened by the passing of the victim of this tragic attack.”
During the incident, the woman managed to call 911 for help. The responding officers were also met with aggression from the dogs and had to use pepper spray to fend them off and provide access for medical attention.
The dogs were subsequently contained and the son relinquished them to animal control where they were euthanized following the attack. One of the dogs was fatally shot at the scene after escaping the backyard.
