KOR-Bahrain chapter raises funds to help students reach remote island school in Cagayan safely

An intermediate school in the northernmost part of Cagayan Valley, accessible only through challenging sea routes, is set to receive transport support under the second phase of a long-running education initiative backed by the Knights of Rizal – Kingdom of Bahrain Chapter.

The group confirmed that Phase II of its “Adopt A School” program will prioritize mobility and logistics for a campus situated on a remote island, where both students and teachers encounter daily risks traveling to and from classes. Plans include providing passenger boats to ensure safer crossings, along with marine batteries and other operational equipment. Additional educational support materials are also part of the rollout.

Funding for this expansion will be raised during the Commander’s Ball 2026, scheduled for Saturday, 21 March 2026, during the Eid holidays. The formal gathering is expected to bring together members of the Filipino community in Bahrain, civic figures, and corporate partners in support of the project’s next phase.

Organizers described the ball as both a fellowship event and a fundraising platform aimed at sustaining education-focused outreach in underserved areas of the Philippines. Contributions and pledges secured during the evening will be allocated directly to the implementation of Phase II.

The initiative builds on groundwork completed under Phase I, which centered on electrification and digital access. Through donor backing, the chapter delivered solar panels and battery systems to a beneficiary school, addressing long-standing power limitations. Classrooms were also equipped with smart televisions to enhance instruction, along with printers, desktop computers, and laptops for faculty and administrative use.

According to the chapter, those earlier interventions strengthened lesson delivery and introduced digital learning tools while providing a more stable power source for daily operations.

Chapter leaders underscored the broader philosophy guiding the program. “This initiative reflects our unwavering belief that education remains the most powerful tool for nation-building. Through collective action and responsible stewardship, we continue to transform lives—one school at a time,” the Chapter leadership emphasized.

Beyond financial contributions, the organization is extending partnership opportunities to companies, institutions, and private individuals interested in supporting the project. Sponsorship packages and donor arrangements are being prepared to ensure transparency and measurable outcomes tied to the assistance provided.

In announcing the upcoming event and project expansion, the chapter reiterated that proceeds from the Commander’s Ball will be directed toward securing safe and reliable sea transport for the remote island school, including the acquisition of passenger boats and essential marine equipment.
