South Korea removes bank statement requirement for visa applicants starting Feb. 20

Filipino travelers planning to visit South Korea may soon find the visa application process easier, as the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) announced simplified supporting document requirements effective February 20, 2026.

In its latest advisory, KVAC said the submission of three months of bank statements will be waived for all types of visa applications, in a move aimed at enhancing convenience for applicants and encouraging more visits to Korea.

The center also introduced revised requirements for student applicants, who may now submit either the original school certificate or a copy of the student ID, instead of providing both documents.

For group or multiple applicants, KVAC clarified that common documents such as invitation letters, family relationship papers, and company-related requirements should now be submitted in one copy only, to be attached to the representative applicant’s file.

Meanwhile, for employment-related documents, KVAC said the submission of an explanation letter will also be waived in cases where there is no landline number indicated or when the document is issued with an electronic signature, as long as applicants provide reachable contact information such as an email address or mobile number.
