Filipino athletes shine in two international sports events in Abu Dhabi

Filipino athletes made the community proud with outstanding performances in two separate international events held in Yas Island last weekend: the Yas Triathlon and the International Open Masters Games.

At the Open Masters Games, Jayson Castillo delivered an impressive all-around performance, earning two gold medals and two silver medals across multiple events. His achievements came from strong finishes in the long jump, OCR (Obstacle Course Racing), 400-meter relay, and 100-meter sprint, showcasing his versatility and athletic ability.

In the Athletics Women’s 35+ Category, Luville also shone on the track and field, capturing gold in the long jump and silver in the 100-meter sprint, proving her strength and speed in her division.

Meanwhile, at the Yas Triathlon, Jona Florido secured 3rd place overall in the Olympic-distance race, demonstrating exceptional endurance and determination against a competitive international field.

Their achievements across two major events highlight the dedication, discipline, and world-class potential of Filipino athletes competing abroad.
