OFW stopped at NAIA after warrant for illegal recruitment surfaces

A routine departure screening at Ninoy Aquino International Airport led to the arrest of an overseas Filipino worker after immigration officers confirmed he was the subject of a court-issued warrant tied to an illegal recruitment case.

The 45-year-old man was stopped at Terminal 3 on Friday night while preparing to board an international flight to Hong Kong. Bureau of Immigration personnel identified an active warrant issued by a regional trial court in Mindanao, citing syndicated illegal recruitment and carrying a recommendation of no bail.

Following the hit, airport immigration officers immediately coordinated with personnel from NAIA Police Station 3 to authenticate the warrant and carry out the necessary procedures.

After verification, the passenger was taken into custody and turned over to the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Manila District Field Unit for processing and further legal action.
