Saudi Arabian authorities have arrested more than 16,000 people for infringing on residency, labour, and border security regulations within a single week.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that coordinated field operations were conducted nationwide, leading to the apprehension of 16,695 individuals for various offenses. Detailed figures indicated that 10,518 violations pertained to residency laws, 3,953 to border security, and 2,224 to labour regulations.
The crackdown also led to the arrest of 18 individuals accused of facilitating the transportation or sheltering of those violating residency laws.
In line with the country’s strict regulations, Saudi media highlight that any person involved in the illegal entry or accommodation of unauthorized residents could face severe penalties. The consequences include a prison sentence of up to 15 years and fines amounting to SR1 million.
