New Year’s Eve celebrations in Dubai will include a new visual feature at the Dubai Frame, where drone performances will be staged alongside the traditional fireworks display on December 31.
The addition forms part of a wider emirate-wide programme that will see fireworks launched from dozens of locations across the city. Engineer Adel Al Marzooqi, Chief Executive Officer of the Waste and Sewerage Agency at Dubai Municipality, said the New Year’s Eve plan includes fireworks shows at 40 sites, amounting to a total of 48 separate displays during the night.
Authorities have also outlined measures intended to manage large crowds and prioritise public safety during the festivities. Public beaches across Dubai will be reserved exclusively for families on New Year’s Eve as part of efforts to create a more controlled and comfortable environment.
The arrangements fall under a coordinated readiness plan involving Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority, and the Dubai Resilience Centre, covering areas such as crowd management, transport flow, and emergency response.
According to Dubai Municipality, the operational plan extends beyond fireworks and beach access, addressing waste collection, public health measures, food safety checks, and safety protocols at parks and recreational facilities. Fourteen public parks will remain open until 1 a.m., providing designated spaces for families who plan to watch the New Year celebrations from public venues.
