Central bank readies commemorative P10 coin for ASEAN chair year

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will introduce a special P10 coin in January 2026 in connection with the Philippines’ assumption of the chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

According to the central bank, the new issue will circulate alongside existing coins rather than replace them. Its front face will keep the familiar look of the current P10 under the New Generation Currency coin series, including the portrait of Apolinario Mabini.

What distinguishes the release is the reverse side, which will feature a newly created design intended to reflect themes of regional leadership and collective identity linked to ASEAN. The coin’s rollout is timed to coincide with the start of the Philippines’ term as ASEAN chair in 2026.
