Mother accused of killing teen daughter after stopping her from smoking

A domestic dispute inside a home in Pakistan’s Bahawalpur district has led to the arrest of a woman accused of killing her teenage daughter, according to local authorities.

Police in the Yazman area said the incident involved a 16-year-old girl identified as Aisha and her mother, Nabila. Investigators stated that tensions had reportedly been ongoing after the teenager repeatedly confronted her mother about smoking inside the house.

Authorities said the confrontation escalated late Saturday night when the daughter again objected, prompting the mother to react violently. Police alleged that the suspect restrained the girl and strangled her during the altercation.

Law enforcement officers were alerted shortly afterward, prompting the deployment of forensic and crime scene teams to document evidence inside the residence. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

The victim’s body was transferred to the Yazman Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
