Scholarships offered to Filipinos during community events in Bahrain

Scholarship awards took center stage at recent Filipino community gatherings in Bahrain as GEMS Global Institute brought its education initiatives directly to overseas Filipinos through two separate events linked to local organizations.

The institute distributed scholarships during the ALSE Year End Party and at activities organized by Katilingban Sang Mga Ilonggo sa Bahrain (KIB), aligning its programs with community-based celebrations rather than standalone academic ceremonies. The approach positioned education support within familiar social spaces for Filipino workers and families in the Kingdom.

At the ALSE Year End Party, scholarship recipients were formally recognized during the program, with the awards presented by Gem B. Reyes, President and CEO of GEMS Global Institute, alongside Dr. Benson A. Castillejos, Vice President and Executive Director. The presentation was incorporated into the event program, marking a shift from a purely festive gathering to one that also highlighted educational opportunity.

A similar initiative took place during KIB gatherings, where Reyes personally handed out scholarships to members of the Ilonggo community. The direct involvement of the institute’s leadership underscored its engagement with regional Filipino groups and its focus on supporting community-specific needs.

“These scholarships are investments in people and in the future of our community,” GEMS Global Institute shared. “Through partnerships with organizations such as ALSE and KIB, we aim to uplift lives, open doors to education, and inspire lifelong learning among overseas Filipinos.”

The scholarships form part of the institute’s broader academic offerings, which cover healthcare-related courses, skills development, business programs, and emerging technology fields. The initiative reflects an effort to connect training and education with practical career pathways for overseas Filipinos seeking to upgrade or redirect their professional skills.

GEMS Global Institute has indicated that its outreach in Bahrain is part of a wider effort to work alongside Filipino organizations abroad, using community partnerships as a channel for delivering educational support and access to learning programs.
