Public transport operations between Dubai, Ajman, and Sharjah have been disrupted after authorities temporarily stopped intercity bus services as heavy rainfall continues to affect large parts of the UAE.
The Roads and Transport Authority announced that the suspension will remain in place until further notice, urging commuters to refrain from travelling on affected routes and to rely on official channels for updates on when services may resume.
The decision comes as adverse weather conditions persist nationwide. According to weather alerts issued by the National Centre of Meteorology, the country is facing continued rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, hail, strong winds, blowing dust, and rough sea conditions.
In response, the RTA has intensified its emergency operations, activating 24/7 monitoring systems and deploying field crews and rapid response teams across key locations. Its Emergency and Crisis teams are coordinating from the Command Control Centre and operating a joint Flood Management Room focused on addressing water accumulation on roads and ensuring operational readiness during the storm.
To keep the public informed, the RTA has been issuing real-time updates through its social media platforms, posting images and videos that show ongoing efforts to manage flooded roads and assist motorists affected by the weather.
Dubai Police have also released a safety advisory, warning that heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, lightning, and occasional hail are significantly reducing visibility in many areas. Road users have been asked to follow official guidance, avoid unnecessary trips, and remain vigilant as conditions continue to evolve.
