PH records show Davao trip by father and son linked to Bondi Beach shooting

Immigration records in the Philippines have drawn attention as investigators piece together the movements of the two men linked to the deadly Bondi Beach shooting in Sydney earlier this month.

The Bureau of Immigration reported that Sajid Akram, 50, and his son Naveed Akram, 24, entered the Philippines on November 1, 2025, arriving from Sydney. Upon landing, the pair declared Davao as their intended destination during their stay in the country.

Authorities said the two later departed the Philippines on November 28, travelling from Davao to Manila before boarding a flight back to Sydney. The timing of the trip has become a focal point for Australian investigators assessing the suspects’ activities in the weeks leading up to the attack.

Australian police have confirmed that the father and son were involved in the December 14 shooting at Bondi Beach, which occurred during a Hanukkah celebration and left at least 15 people dead. The incident has been classified by authorities as terrorism-related.

During the assault, the elder Akram was shot and killed by responding officers, while his son survived and was taken into custody. Law enforcement agencies in Australia have said they are examining the suspects’ international travel, including their time in the Philippines, as part of a broader investigation into possible motives, preparation, and connections linked to the attack.
