100 cancer patients in Kuwait receive financial aid through DMW’s AKSYON Fund

Financial support from the Department of Migrant Workers’ AKSYON Fund reached 100 cancer patients during an event held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuwait on December 6. The assistance was formally handed over by DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac together with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan.

The activity formed part of “Showing Gratitude and Building Opportunities,” an initiative organized by the Kabayan Cancer Support Group, the Embassy of the Philippines in Kuwait, the Migrant Workers Office-Kuwait and the On-Site Welfare Office. Among those attending was H.E. Sheikha Awrad Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who is known in Kuwait for her philanthropic work and support for KCSG.

Secretary Cacdac pointed to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s priority programs relating to health and the welfare of overseas Filipino workers, saying “Dalawang aspeto o larangan ang napakalapit sa ating Pangulo, kalusugan at OFWs. Tulungan ang nangangailangan ng tulong.” He added that, “Hindi po iyan utang na loob ninyo sa amin, yan ay bilang panukli o parangal sa matagal na serbisyo sa inyong mga pamilya, sa pamayanan, at sa ating sambayanan.”

Administrator Caunan underscored the directive being implemented by the DMW and OWWA. “Ang direktiba ng ating mahal na Pangulo-lalong pa-igtingin ang programa at serbisyo, lalong padaliin ang tulong. Sa panahon na kailangan ninyo ng tulong, hindi kayo nag-iisa.”

Officials also highlighted the ongoing Bagong Bayani ng Mundo-OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Kuwait, which aims to make government programs more accessible to overseas Filipinos wherever they may be.
