The historical drama Quezon, which recently emerged as the number one film in Philippine cinemas, has entered its Dubai run following a premiere held on November 20 at Vox Cinema in BurJuman Mall. The launch event drew media organizations, digital creators, and key figures from the Filipino community, setting the stage for the film’s Middle East rollout.
As of today, the movie has expanded beyond its premiere venue and is now available across multiple screens in Dubai, opening its regional screenings to a wider audience. The strong turnout at the debut illustrated the film’s growing influence among overseas Filipinos and supporters of historical cinema.
The film revisits the political ascent of Manuel L. Quezon, mapping his journey from lawyer to Tayabas mayor, to Senate President, and ultimately to president of the 1935 Philippine Commonwealth. While anchored in documented events, the narrative includes creative dramatization to depict the shifting political landscape during the American colonial era.
Promoted as a satirical take on early Commonwealth politics, Quezon offers its own interpretation of the alliances, rivalries, and circumstances that shaped Quezon’s rise to national leadership.
The film is now showing in cinemas across Dubai.
