UAE records season’s coldest temperature at 7.8°C in Al Ain

The UAE marked its chilliest moment of the winter season when temperatures dipped to 7.8°C in Al Ain’s Raknah area, according to new measurements issued by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The reading was logged shortly after 7am on Thursday, November 20, placing the eastern region among the coldest spots in the country this week.

The drop comes during a period of rapidly shifting weather across the Emirates. Over the past several days, the UAE has seen warmer afternoons hovering around the low 30s°C in major cities, contrasting sharply with noticeably cooler dawn hours in inland and high-altitude areas. Recent weather bulletins also indicated rising humidity at night, the formation of early-morning fog, and occasional dust caused by freshening northeasterly and northwesterly winds.

Forecasts for the week ahead show similar patterns continuing. Coastal and urban centres are expected to experience mild to warm days, while interior regions — including Al Ain — may see temperatures slide further before sunrise. The NCM has noted that low clouds could form over western marine areas, with light winds strengthening at times and creating dusty conditions in exposed zones.

The seasonal shift is also affecting the mountains, where minimum temperatures have been forecast to fall into the low teens. Meanwhile, rain remains unlikely for most parts of the country, though meteorologists mentioned a slight chance of showers over the sea and island areas early in the week.
