Nearly 2,000 OFWs in Dubai receive their OWWA e-Cards during two-day service caravan

Nearly 2,000 overseas Filipino workers received their long-awaited OWWA e-Cards during the two-day Alagang OWWA Serbisyo Caravan held at Dubai World Trade Center Hall 2, where frontline teams processed documents, answered inquiries, and delivered essential assistance to thousands of Filipinos.

OWWA reported that 1,978 OFWs successfully claimed their e-Cards during the event, which formed part of the wider migrant services initiative earlier mounted by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and partner agencies in Dubai. The distribution was accompanied by more than 2,500 freebies and giveaways, adding a festive atmosphere as workers lined up for services.

A total of 1,385 OFWs renewed or applied for their OWWA membership, while 754 inquiries were resolved on-site by attending officers. For those who completed their applications in advance, 66 pre-printed e-Cards were immediately released and brought home by their rightful owners.

The caravan followed the momentum of the DMW’s broader Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan, which earlier recorded more than 2,000 registered OFWs and over 11,300 completed transactions in Dubai. Government agencies and over 500 Filipino volunteers worked together to streamline assistance covering legal support, welfare cases, contract verification, health services, and the integrated OFW Travel Pass via the eGovPH app.

Labor Attaché John Rio Bautista earlier described the Dubai rollout as proof that government services are reaching workers “with speed and compassion,” echoing the directive to ensure no OFW is left behind. Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay likewise noted that the strong turnout signaled growing confidence among OFWs in the government’s expanded on-ground assistance.
