Dubai court jails man for stealing cash from unlocked car near night beach

A Dubai misdemeanour court has sentenced an Asian man to one month in jail, ordered him to repay the full amount he stole, and directed his deportation after finding him guilty of taking money from a parked vehicle near Umm Suqeim’s night beach, according to Al Khaleej.

Case files show that an Arab man reported losing Dh9,100, $300, and 1,000 Saudi riyals after leaving his car unlocked in a designated parking area by the beach. When he returned, the cash was gone.

A police officer told investigators that evidence gathered at the scene led officers to identify and arrest the suspect. The inquiry found that the man had taken advantage of the unlocked car, entered it, and removed the cash before walking away.

Although the defendant denied the accusations in court, authorities determined he had used the same tactic in previous incidents, and evidence confirmed he had stolen the money from the complainant’s vehicle. The court issued its ruling based on the findings.
