OWWA distributes P2.2 million aid to 58 former OFWs in Nueva Vizcaya

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has released a total of P2.2 million in financial assistance to 58 former Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from various towns in Nueva Vizcaya, strengthening its reintegration efforts for returning migrants.

According to a PNA report, the support package, drawn from OWWA’s Reintegration Program, is intended to help beneficiaries launch livelihood projects and reestablish themselves within their local communities. Individual assistance ranged from P8,000 to P20,000, while eligible recipients also received additional medical or bereavement aid amounting to P5,000 to P20,000.

Alma Chavente, head of OWWA Region 2’s Reintegration Unit, encouraged the recipients to make the most of the financial support, emphasizing its impact on long-term stability and growth. She also recognized the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) for putting up the OFW Welfare Center, a dedicated space offering services and guidance to returning workers and their families.

“The Reintegration Program is OWWA’s way of helping our modern-day heroes rebuild their lives and continue contributing to their communities after working abroad,” Chavente said.

The awarding ceremony was led by Chavente together with Provincial Board Member Flodemonte S. Gerdan and Dolly Rose Minas, head of the PLGU’s Public Employment Service Division.
