The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has made it faster and easier for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to secure their OWWA eCard—now taking less than five minutes to process, according to the agency’s latest announcement.
The OWWA eCard serves as an official identification card and proof of active OWWA membership, giving OFWs faster access to government services, programs, and benefits. The agency recently showcased how one applicant was able to get the card in just minutes at the OWWA Central Office, emphasizing the efficiency of its upgraded system.
As of November 5, 2024, there are already 294,263 OWWA eCard holders worldwide. The milestone highlights the agency’s commitment to delivering “mabilis, maayos, at #SerbisyongMayPuso” services to Filipino workers abroad.
The eCard offers a range of practical advantages. It can be used as a valid government-issued ID, simplifying transactions with various agencies. Holders can also use it to speed up access to OWWA programs—including welfare assistance, training, scholarship, reintegration, and repatriation services. Some partner establishments also offer discounts and privileges to cardholders, such as travel and insurance perks.
OWWA eCard 2.0 comes with enhanced security features, including a QR code and holographic seal, and is integrated with the OWWA mobile app for digital access. Eligibility currently covers active OWWA members who are “Balik Manggagawa” or returning workers, have a valid passport, and possess an active Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) or BM Exemption Number.
Qualified OFWs can apply through ecard.owwa.gov.ph and claim their physical card at OWWA Regional Welfare Offices or designated pick-up points.
