San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora paid a courtesy visit to Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Alfonso Ferdinand Ver in Abu Dhabi, joining Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Don Artes, Las Piñas Mayor April Aguilar, and Pateros Mayor Gerald German.
In his message, Zamora shared that the group was briefed on embassy operations supporting the large Filipino community in the Gulf nation.
Ambassador Ver highlighted the embassy’s mandate to assist Filipinos across the Emirates, noting its wide-reaching responsibilities. He stressed the “extensive operations and programs” being carried out to serve more than one million overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) living and working in the UAE.
The UAE hosts one of the largest Filipino communities in the Middle East, with workers across healthcare, hospitality, aviation, retail, and domestic sectors. Demand for consular services, legal assistance, and labor coordination remains high, especially following ongoing efforts of Philippine missions to strengthen support mechanisms for Filipinos abroad.
