Residents in Abu Dhabi are being reminded to keep a safe distance from accident and fire scenes, as authorities warn that crowding can put lives at risk and obstruct emergency response teams.
In a public advisory on X, the Abu Dhabi Police and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority stressed that emergency crews need immediate access to crash and fire locations to assist the injured and prevent further harm. Officials noted that curious onlookers gathering near the scene can slow down rescue operations and create traffic hazards.
The advisory highlighted that individuals who cluster near incident zones or stand close to active roads increase the chances of secondary accidents and injuries.
A penalty of Dh1,000 applies to anyone who blocks traffic during emergencies. The fine targets those who stop their vehicles improperly or create crowds that delay ambulances and first responders.
Police also cautioned the public against taking photos or videos of victims, damaged vehicles, or fire sites. Sharing such content online can result in legal consequences, according to authorities, who emphasized that protecting privacy and enabling emergency personnel to work without obstruction remains a priority.
