A 39-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times with a screwdriver in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal, on Monday afternoon, October 27.
According to a report by Manila Bulletin, the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station identified the victim only as “Aira.” She was walking to a nearby store in Kasiglahan Village, Phase 1, when the suspect, a 24-year-old man identified as “Patrick,” suddenly attacked her from behind using a pointed screwdriver.
Witnesses quickly intervened and managed to seize the weapon from the suspect. Nearby residents also alerted patrolling police officers, leading to the suspect’s immediate arrest. Authorities confiscated the approximately 8-inch screwdriver used in the assault.
Aira sustained several injuries and was rushed to East Avenue Medical Center, where she remains confined. Police confirmed that the suspect is now under custody and will be charged with frustrated murder.
