The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) refuted claims made by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV that Senator Christopher “Bong” Go had been summoned by the commission in connection with alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
ICI Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka clarified that no such summons had been issued, countering a viral social media post by Trillanes. The former lawmaker earlier alleged that Go refused to appear before the ICI unless accompanied by Senators Imee Marcos and Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who would act as his legal counsels.
Trillanes previously asked the commission to investigate Go and his relatives over infrastructure contracts worth P6.9 billion allegedly awarded to companies linked to Go’s father and brother — CLTG Builders and Alfrego Builders & Supply. He said the projects, secured during Go’s tenure as presidential aide and later as senator, involved joint ventures with St. Gerrard Construction, a company owned by the Discaya family.
In a public statement, Go dismissed the accusations as recycled efforts to malign his name and divert attention from “those truly responsible for corruption.”
“You are barking at the wrong tree. If you’re really serious, why don’t you go after the real corrupt individuals? Why don’t you file cases against your financiers, the contractors? You know who they are,” Go said in an earlier response to Trillanes’ allegations.
