The Philippine National Police (PNP) has filed administrative charges against 3,288 of its personnel between January and September 2025, showing a marked rise in accountability measures within the force.
According to a report by Inquirer.net, this figure surpasses the 2,857 officers charged during the same period last year, which the PNP described as “a clear indication of stronger internal enforcement and accountability across all levels.”
While the PNP did not provide details on the nature of the cases or the ranks of those involved, it said its Internal Affairs Service (IAS) processed 2,041 complaints, completed 1,508 pre-charge investigations, and resolved 1,041 cases against erring officers within the first nine months of the year.
The IAS also carried out 16,735 inspections of police units nationwide and documented 3,912 infractions from January to September 2025—down significantly from 6,244 violations recorded during the same period in 2024.
As part of its 26th founding anniversary on October 15, the IAS launched a handbook for investigators and inspectors to strengthen internal procedures and oversight within the national police force.
