Lost your passport abroad? New UAE service helps Golden Visa holders return home

Golden Visa holders can now access dedicated consular assistance when facing emergencies overseas, according to an announcement from the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Tuesday, October 14.

As reported by Khaleej Times, the initiative ensures that Golden Visa residents are included in the UAE’s emergency and evacuation plans during crises abroad. The ministry said the move aims to provide immediate care and support to these residents in coordination with relevant authorities.

The new service also covers repatriation and burial assistance for Golden Visa holders who pass away while outside the UAE. This measure allows bereaved families to complete necessary procedures quickly through a simplified process designed to ease their burden during difficult times.

A 24-hour hotline has been established for Golden Visa holders, enabling direct communication with MoFA’s Call Centre at +97124931133.

In addition, if an eligible Golden Visa holder loses or damages their passport abroad, MoFA will issue an electronic Return Document through its official website to facilitate their safe return to the UAE.

The UAE’s Golden Visa program—introduced in 2019—grants long-term residency to select individuals, including investors, entrepreneurs, top students, scientists, frontline workers, and professionals in key sectors. It allows them to live, work, and study in the country without the need for a sponsor or employer.

Recent expansions have made the visa available to exceptional gamers, influencers, and teachers in Ras Al Khaimah, as well as superyacht owners in Abu Dhabi. Applications can be made through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) or the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, either online or at designated centres.
