A court in Al Ain has ordered a company to pay an employee AED466,465 after confirming that his wages were withheld for more than two years, Gulf Today reported.
According to case records, the worker filed a lawsuit demanding unpaid salaries, end-of-service gratuity, annual leave allowance, and compensation for notice pay. He claimed to have worked for the firm with a basic salary of AED15,000 and said he was denied payment even after his employment ended.
The Al Ain Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases Court found that the company failed to pay the worker for 28 months of employment, equivalent to AED420,000 in delayed wages. It also ruled that the employee was entitled to his end-of-service gratuity and vacation allowance, which the company neglected to settle after termination.
Gulf Today noted that the court based its decision on clear evidence of an employment relationship and the company’s failure to present proof that the dues had been paid.
