Weather alert: UAE to see rain, drop in temperature starting Friday

Residents across the UAE can expect a noticeable drop in temperatures and scattered rainfall starting Friday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The weather bureau said light to moderate rain—turning heavy at times—will affect parts of the northern and eastern regions until Tuesday, while some inland and western areas may also see showers. The system is being driven by an extension of surface low pressure from the south combined with a cold, humid upper-level trough.

Small hail may also occur in isolated locations, the NCM warned. Winds will shift from southeasterly to northeasterly and later to northwesterly, ranging from light to strong at times. Blowing dust and sand could reduce visibility, especially in open areas.

Sea conditions are forecast to be slight to moderate, occasionally rough, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

On Thursday, the weather will remain clear to partly cloudy with humidity rising overnight and into Friday morning. Temperatures are expected to fall slightly on Friday as more clouds build over the east and south, while humid conditions persist during the early hours of Saturday.

The NCM added that the pattern will continue through the weekend, with a chance of cumulus clouds and rain—mainly in the east and south—alongside gusty winds reaching up to 40 km/h. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny with lingering chances of light rain in the eastern parts of the country.
