Palace hails drop in unemployment, cites Marcos admin’s continued job drive

Malacañang on Wednesday welcomed the decline in unemployment in August 2025, highlighting the Marcos administration’s continuing efforts to bring more job opportunities closer to Filipinos.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said the government’s work to improve the livelihood of every Filipino has not stopped.

She added that the administration remains focused on generating more employment opportunities. “So, maganda pong balita po iyan.

In a separate briefing, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) chief and National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa reported that the number of jobless Filipinos aged 15 and above dropped to 2.03 million in August from 2.59 million in July 2025. The figure was also lower than the 2.07 million recorded in August 2024.

The PSA said this translates to a 3.9% unemployment rate, down from 5.3% the previous month. The labor force participation rate also climbed to 52.13 million, while the number of employed individuals rose to 50.10 million from 46.05 million in July and 49.15 million in the same period last year.
