The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has announced that October will bring a noticeable shift in weather patterns across the UAE, with temperatures expected to drop significantly during the latter half of the month.
As a transitional period between summer and winter, October often sees sharp changes in climate. According to the NCM’s climate report, prevailing winds are forecast to blow southeasterly during the late night and morning hours, shifting to northwesterly in the afternoon and evening due to the land and sea breeze cycle.
Humidity levels will also play a key role in the month’s weather. The NCM noted that relative humidity typically peaks in the early mornings, drops after sunrise, then rises again after sunset to reach an average of 51 percent. This pattern raises the chance of fog formation around midnight and during early morning hours.
The centre added that the seasonal Indian low-pressure system will gradually weaken towards the end of the month, while the Siberian high-pressure system is expected to intermittently influence the region. In addition, surface low-pressure systems extending from the Red Sea and from the east could interact with upper atmospheric conditions, increasing cloud cover in eastern parts of the country with possible rainfall.
Based on historical climate data, average temperatures in October are projected to range between 28.7°C and 30.8°C. The average maximum is expected between 35.0°C and 36.8°C, while the average minimum could fall between 22.7°C and 25.7°C. The highest temperature recorded in the UAE during October was 46.3°C in Mazra’a in 2017, while the lowest was 6.4°C in Rakna in 2020.
