Court voids birth certificate of former Bamban mayor Alice Guo

A regional trial court in Tarlac has nullified the birth certificate of former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, who has been at the center of human trafficking investigations linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) chief Claire Dennis Mapa told senators on Friday that the Tarlac City Regional Trial Court Branch 111 issued the ruling on September 24, 2025.

“This is a good news for the Philippine government, the Philippine Statistics Authority na… nai-declare ng RTC na void ang birth registration ni Alice Guo,” Mapa said during a Senate finance hearing.

The court’s decision followed the PSA’s earlier move to endorse the cancellation of Guo’s birth certificate to the Office of the Solicitor General in 2024. Her citizenship had been questioned due to conflicting accounts of her personal history and questionable documents tied to her Filipino nationality.

Guo, who is currently detained at Pasig City Jail, faces multiple charges including falsification of public documents, graft, and human trafficking related to the POGO scandal.
