Comedian and TV host Vice Ganda has made it clear that she is comfortable being addressed as either “sir” or “ma’am.”
During Tuesday’s episode of It’s Showtime, Vice, alongside co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario, was chatting with a contestant in the “Laro Laro Pick” segment when the contestant referred to her as “sir.” Instead of being bothered, Vice took the opportunity to address the matter publicly.
“For once and for all, let’s normalize me being called ‘sir.’ I’m okay with ‘sir,’” Vice said.
She added, “Para hindi na siya ginagawang katatawanan ‘yung pagtawag sa ’kin ng sir kasi okay lang naman sa ’kin ang ‘sir.’ Normal lang ‘yun.”
Vice also stressed that she has no issue being called “ma’am.” In a 2021 episode of the noontime show, she previously identified as non-binary, explaining that she is not offended whether people use “he” or “she” when referring to her.
