A massive fire tore through Barangay 21-C Piapi Boulevard in Davao City on October 2, 2025, destroying at least 400 homes and leaving hundreds of families displaced.
The blaze, which reached the fourth alarm, was finally declared under control by firefighters at 7:27 p.m. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the incident, with investigations still ongoing.
In a GMA Regional TV report,Barangay Captain Joenard Gabrillo described the extent of the destruction as overwhelming. “Dako kaayo og damage – sobra 400 ka balay ang naigo. Salamat kaayo sa daling tabang nga nadawat sa mga residente,” he said.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office immediately mobilized relief operations, providing affected families with food packs and other essentials. Acting Vice Mayor Rigo Duterte also visited the site to personally check on survivors, assuring them of financial assistance and continued food provision while recovery efforts are underway.
The office of Davao City First District Representative Paolo Duterte likewise extended aid to the fire victims.
