Samsung mobile phone users in Dubai can now effortlessly pay for their Metro rides and more. Thanks to the recent collaboration between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Samsung Gulf Electronics, the digital nol card has been integrated into Samsung smart devices. The partnership was solidified at Gitex Global 2023 this Wednesday.
Mohammed Al-Mudharreb, CEO of Corporate Technology Support Services Sector at RTA, expressed enthusiasm about the development, stating, “This initiative reinforces Dubai’s mission to become the leading smart city worldwide. It also makes Dubai the pioneer in the region for introducing digital public transportation cards on smartphones.”
Apart from facilitating payments for public transportation, the digital nol card can be utilized at a variety of retail outlets across Dubai.
Fadi Abu Shamat, who heads the Mobile eXperience Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, commented on the partnership, “Both RTA and Samsung are driven by a unified goal to offer consumers unparalleled services and products. The integration of digital nol cards is set to enhance convenience, efficiency, and the overall public transportation experience.”
Samsung users are encouraged to download the nolPay app, enabling them to execute cashless transactions or pay on-the-move by simply tapping their smartphone or smartwatch. This feature also extends to select retail stores, grocery shops, public parks, museums, and other venues.
