A young Egyptian who had just arrived in Dubai with hopes of starting a new life died in his sleep on his very first night in the UAE, a tragedy that has left the Egyptian community reeling, Gulf News reported.
The man’s name has not been released, but his passing was confirmed by Egyptian media figure Hussein El Gohary, who revealed the heartbreaking details on Facebook. “I was shocked when I learned he had died on his very first day in the country,” he wrote.
El Gohary said he was contacted by a friend to step in and assist the family. Over the next five days, he managed the legal process on their behalf, from securing official documents to identifying the body at the morgue — a moment he described as overwhelming. “I told him: Don’t worry, I’m here to help return you to your family, because they are waiting for you,” he recalled.
The Egyptian Consulate in Dubai extended its hours to process the paperwork, while Ambassador Sherif Issa and Dubai Police coordinated efforts to ensure a swift repatriation. “No one could believe this young man had just arrived, only to leave so soon,” El Gohary said.
According to the death certificate issued by the Egyptian Consulate on September 18, the man died on September 10 of natural causes. Authorities confirmed that his death was not related to any contagious disease.
The report added that all international health and legal requirements were strictly followed, including sealing the coffin under UAE supervision. His identity was verified through his passport, and officials worked to ensure his remains were safely returned to Egypt.
