As he approaches six decades in public service, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has unveiled a deeply personal and philosophical book titled Life Has Taught Me — a collection of life lessons, reflections, and guiding principles drawn from his long and eventful journey as a leader and statesman.
The Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai made the announcement via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, where he shared a powerful message about the significance of this milestone. “In a few days, I will complete 60 years in public service — 60 years immersed in the politics of the people, the politics of governance, and the politics of life itself,” he wrote.
Far from being a memoir of projects or accomplishments, the book centers on values and wisdom. Sheikh Mohammed explained that his goal was not to list achievements but to offer “simple words” that are “candid in expression” and “truthful in meaning.” He emphasized that the work is meant to communicate “heart to heart.”
The book, according to Sheikh Mohammed, aims to answer personal questions he has long pondered: “What have I learned from life? From the politics of government? From dealing with people, with all their different temperaments, complex psychologies, and ever-changing ways?”
Through these reflections, he hopes to pass on insights not just to his family and fellow Emiratis, but to anyone seeking wisdom. “I write these words first for myself, then for my sons and my people, and finally for all who wish to learn even a single word or phrase from my life,” he noted.
