Dela Rosa says Duterte-era projects should not be spared from probe

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Thursday stressed that any irregularities in flood control projects must be investigated—even those carried out during the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

His remarks came after contractor Sarah Discaya admitted during a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing that she began securing projects from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in 2016, coinciding with the start of Duterte’s presidency.

Dela Rosa, a known ally of the former president, insisted that accountability should not depend on political timelines, pointing out that taxpayer money is at stake.

“So what kung 2016 kung gumawa sila ng kalokohan nung panahon na iyon dapat imbestigahan. ‘Di porket during the time of PRRD i-exempt natin sa investigation? ‘Di pe-pwede ‘yon. Kung gumawa sila ng kalokohan kahit pa noong panahon pa ni PNoy. Kung may ginawa silang kalokohan dapat imbestigahan lahat yan,” he said.
